For thirty-five girls, the Selection is the chance of a lifetime. The opportunity to escape the life laid out for them since birth. To be swept up in a world of glittering gowns and priceless jewels. To live in a palace and compete for the heart of gorgeous Prince Maxon.

But for America Singer, being Selected is a nightmare. It means turning her back on her secret love with Aspen, who is a caste below her. Leaving her home to enter a fierce competition for a crown she doesn't want. Living in a palace that is constantly threatened by violent rebel attacks.

Then America meets Prince Maxon. Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself—and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined.

I loved this book. In every way. I could not put it down. The characters simply come alive and are incredibly relatable and realistic. The writing flows smoothly and lets the reader completely dive in head first and get lost in this wonderful world of war and royalty. In the age of dystopic novels, this is by far one of my favorite. If you love reality TV shows, if you love the dystopic genre, if you love royalty or if you love humor or love triangles, then this book is the one for you. It is unique and fun yet deep and meaningful. There is constantly something happening to make you want to keep reading. There was never a dull moment. It was a world that I wanted to be apart of and the characters became close friends of mine. Waiting for the sequel was awful... Especially because the end of this one had such a good cliffhanger! It wasn't the type of cliffhanger where you can't believe the book ended there; where it physically hurt to have to wait for the sequel. It was the type of cliffhanger where you feel like it came to a good end and then those last couple of pages gave you just enough to not want to have to put it down. I don't have anything specific to say as far as bad things are concerned because I thought everything in this book was great! I realize that this is a pretty fluffy, short review (very unlike my general reviewing style) but this book was truly THAT good. I don't want to get into too many details about it because I want all of you to go out and discover the magic of this book on your own. It is one of my favorites and I highly recommend this book to anyone and everyone interested because it will not let you down. Kiera Cass has a wonderful way with words and has the perfect mix of depth, wit, and humor within her writing. This is a book that I will read again again, for years to come. Look for my review of it's sequel, The Elite, coming here soon!
