In My Mailbox

Hello everyone!
This past week I went to Orlando, FL for a job opportunity which unfortunately did not pan out. HOWEVER! Before I left I decided to go on a hunt for a new book to bring with me on the plane! Now, I have always loved history, specifically England from the 1300's - 1500's, and so lately I have been watching the new TV series, The White Queen. This show is based off of Philippa Gregory's three novels The White Queen, The Red Queen, and The Kingmaker's Daughter and while I have not read any of these books, the show is fantastic; I highly recommend it. When I went to my local Barnes and Noble I was (not surprisingly) in the mood for some historical fiction because I had been watching this show so much and what did I happen to come across? The Wild Queen: The Days and Nights of Mary Queen of Scots by Carolyn Meyer. I have not read anything by Carolyn Meyer until now but I started this book in the store and found myself finishing off chapter three before I knew what I was doing. So I got it. I actually decided not to bring it with me to Orlando because I had another book I needed to finish but I have been loving every second of this book ever since I got it. I do not look forward to seeing how it will end because I already know how Mary Stuart's story ends, but I do look forward to seeing what happens to her along the way because I have not done much research on her past before. I'm super excited for this one and I hope you will give it a chance some time!
PS Isn't this cover simply gorgeous? I find it completely captivating...

Mary Stuart was just five years old when she was sent to France to be raised alongside her future husband. But when the frail young king dies, eighteen-year-old Mary is stripped of her title as Queen of France and set adrift in the harsh world, alone. Determined to reign over what is rightfully hers, Mary returns to Scotland. Hopingthat a husband will help her secure the coveted English throne, she marries again, but the love and security she longs for elude her. Instead, the fiery young queen finds herself embroiled in a murder scandal that could cost her the crown. And her attempts to bargain with her formidable “sister queen,” Elizabeth I of England, could cost her her very life.
